There were two $1,000 CNF Scholarship Awards. The recipients are:
* Olga Jarrin, who is working toward her master of science in nursing at the University of Connecticut.
Olga shared with us that, "after a year of Human Rights lectures, research and introspection, I put the pieces together and realized my role in the realm of nursing. I will spend my life working to eliminate barriers to primary, preventative health care for all."
She imagines herself working on projects in the United States, such as Healthy People 2010, and later in international health, maybe for the World Health Organization or the United Nations.
* Shannon Sanford, a master of, science in nursing student at Yale University School of Nursing who will become an oncology clinical nurse specialist.
Shannon plans to continue her studies after her master's to earn a doctoral degree in policy reform. Her practice goals are to provide direct care to oncology patients and to work for legislative policy reform related to oncology and nursing practice at state and national levels.
